Coming up on our 3rd Wedding Anniversary this month, we thought it was only appropriate to share why we decided on a destination wedding and got Maui'd. :-)
1. Vacation Time
Since you're already going to take time off for your wedding (and most likely, so will your guests), why not go somewhere fun? Josh's family was going to travel to Los Angeles anyway, and I really wanted to get married in Santa Barbara so everyone was going to have to travel anyway. Maui in October sounded like the perfect place! It was warm, tropical and nice to stay at a resort with all of our closest friends and family.
2. Your Favorite People Will Show Up
We thought it was going to be hard to ask friends and family at first to travel to Maui for our wedding, but most responses were positive and our friends were excited to take a vacation too! Not everyone could make it, but a smaller group of our most favorite people were there to celebrate with us.

3. Weddings are EVERYWHERE
If you're worried there won't be enough resources at your destination, think again. The wedding industry is huge and it isn't hard to find people to provide flowers, cakes, and music! Even on Maui, there were more options than I thought there was going to be and our vendors were amazing.
4. Your Wedding Lasts Longer
Since most guests were staying at the hotel, everywhere we went we would see someone we knew. From hanging out at the pool to getting breakfast we would see a friend or family member every step of the way. We ended up having a rehearsal dinner that we invited all of our friends to the night before at Maui Brewing Company so we were able to spend more time with our guests that had come so far. Even the day after our wedding, we had breakfast with everyone and then spent the day in the ocean and by the pool.
5. Anniversary Getaway
Every year we return to the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa for our Anniversary to relax, get away, celebrate and be reminded of where we had the best day ever. It's the perfect excuse for an annual trip to Hawaii!
